Master Blakeley has trained continuously in the art of Taekwon-Do since 1972 and started his first school in 1979 as a red belt. Master Blakeley tested for his 1st Dan in September of 1980 under the direction of Mr. Harley Galloway of Clovis, New Mexico. He currently has three branch schools in New Mexico and Texas.
Master Blakeley joined the ITF when he met Grandmaster Walter L. Lang in October of 1988 and was tested into the ITF in November of 1990, as a 3rd Dan. Master Blakeley joined the Phoenix Group in September of 2009 after the organization he was a member of dropped its membership with the ITF.
Master Blakeley is the current president of Yom Chi Taekwon-Do Association an organization he and Grandmaster Lang, Master Arnold, Master Holloway and Master Griffin established after leaving the USTF in 1992.
Master Blakeley, has published four books on Taekwon-do: “Taekwon-Do, Instructor to Entrepreneur” published in 2010, “Taekwon-Do, Customs and Etiquette” published in 2001, “YCTA Colored Belt Handbook” first published in 2001, and the “YCTA Black Belt Handbook, first published in 2000.” He was a coach or assistant coach at the ITF World Championships in 2004, 2007, 2010 and a dignitary in 2014 in Rome.
Master Blakeley enjoys tennis, pickle ball, bow hunting (turkey and elk), outdoor survival, and competes at USPSA (United States Pistol Shooters Association) shooting events on a regular basis.
