Midnight Sun Martial Arts Academy hosted a Phoenix Group Black Belt testing in Fairbanks, Alaska on February 27, 2021.  

Congratulations to Mrs. Amanda Cheney on her promotion to 5th Dan, and Mr. Conor Esslemont on his promotion to 4th Dan.  Promoting to the rank of 2nd Dan were Mr. Callum Esslemont, Mrs. Sara Keener, Mr. Eric Bixler, Mr. Jackson Bixler, and Mr. Samuel Anderson.  Promoting to 1st Dan were Ms. Virginia Gengler, Ms. Denise Gengler,and Ms. Sara Lannet.

These students demonstrated very high calibre technical skills.  It is rare that a testing has more than one person promoting to the ranks of 4th degree or above.  This is a great testiment to the teaching of Master Hurben and the spirit of the Phoenix Group.
