Joanne Spillmann was born in Gloucester, England. She was raised there until she, at 8 years old, moved with her family to the United States. At the age of 16, she began working for a special program developed for children with disabilities. This experience created a desire to help children and further her career in child development.
She attended Cal State University, Fullerton where she received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Child Development in 1995. She then moved to Corona, California and ran a child development program for many years. During that time, she tutored and counseled many students who went on to receive top awards for advanced academic skills. She was also involved in musical theater for over 10 years.
Ms. Spillmann began her Taekwon-Do training in her 20's and is now a 4th Dan Black Belt in the art. She developed her own program of musical forms called TaeKwon Cardio, a cardio-style hybrid of Taekwon-Do Patterns, Kickboxing and dance. She is also the GMA Demo Team Director and program Instructor. Under her direction and with her choreography experience, she has created a superior demonstration team. Even with her chronic struggles with major allergies and serious asthma, she puts on her uniform and shows her leadership and strength. As well as her ranking in Taekwon-Do, she is a 1st Dan in KumDo and holds a blue belt ranking in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
Ms. Spillmann is also the wife of Master Konrad Spillmann, a mother of three grown children, has had foster children, has several grandchildren, tutors students, and provides life-skills training and support to students and parents.
She is also writing a series of life skill children’s stories.
