The Annual black belt retreat is being held in Gallatin, TN and is hosted by Master Konrad Spillmann, VIII Dan.  This event is open to all black belts!  The cost of the event with early registration on or before October 4th is $150.  On October 5th and later the registration is $200. The cost of registration includes the seminars, a t-shirt, light lunch Saturday, and dinner on Saturday evening.

Mail in registration is available in the packet for those who prefer that method.  All mail in registrations should be sent to the Phoenix Group, 9524 Eby St., Overland Park, KS 66212.  Make checks payable to Phoenix Group. The Phoenix Group is looking forward to hosting its first annual retreat for all black belts.  All black belts of all ages will want to be there!  It is our goal to provide everyone with physical and academic information to help everyone grow in a positive and fun environment. The cost of the retreat is $100 on or before October 14 and $150 on or after October 15th.  Bring your sparring gear. 

Refresh on the basics, expand on your boundaries, improve your understanding, and have a great time!   

This will be a one and one-half day event.  You will want to arrive sometime on Friday and leave well after noon on Sunday.

Friday, October 20:

Saturday, October 21:

9:00-9:30 am: Line-up and Welcome

9:30-10:30 am: Lecture; Master Spillmann, VIII Dan

10:45 am-2:00 pm: Pattern Footwork; Master Howard, VII Dan

2:00-3:00 pm: Lunch break (lunch will be provided at the venue)

3:00-4:00 pm: Lecture/workout: Personal Concepts on Increasing Sparring Effectiveness; Mr. Tiew, IV Dan

4:15-5:15 pm: Self Defense; Mr. Spillmann, IV Dan

6:30 pm: Dinner Break off Site

8:00-10:00 pm: Lecture/Discussion (Location TBD)

  • Review and Acceptance of Policies and Procedures
  • Brainstorming:

○      What do you need to be a more effective Black Belt and/or Teacher

○      How will we continue to grow as an organization
