Mr. Robert Hansen is a 5th dan with Maum Sin Yong Taekwon-do at Beck Recreation Center in Aurora, Colorado. He started Taekwon-do in 1990 with Dr. Kramer who at the time was Ms. Kramer a 2nd dan. He competed in his first open tournament as a 9th gup white belt and continued competing in tournaments all the way through the color belts at least 8-10 tournaments each year. He began assisting in teaching as a blue belt in 1995 with Mr. Russ Doren at Meadowood Recreation Center, one of the smaller clubs in Aurora. He graduated high school and tested for 1st dan in 1998, married Diana Kiewel in 1999 and moved to Fort Collins, Colorado continued in Maum Sin Yong by driving to Aurora 2-3 days a week to help teach and practice. He tested for 2nd dan in 2002, in 2004 moved back to Aurora where his son AJ was born, tested for 3rd dan in 2005, and 4th dan in 2009.
He has been teaching taekwon-do to at-risk youth in Aurora middle schools for COMPASS since 2004 and has had 4 students reach 1st dan from those programs. In January 2015 he began the emergency medical technician program at Red Rocks Community College and earned his Certificate in August 2015. He also began teaching his own club at Meadowood Recreation center where he first started assistant teaching in 2015.
